Let's start again ....

Wow! It's be a very long time since I last blogged, almost 2 years exactly!

So much has happened, so many changes, sadness, happiness and endless trying to get back to where I was. Last week I decided it was time to start all over again and that means restarting my blog, my place to share and show my crafts, life and adventures

So le's start again ....

Hi my name is Mel, I live with my amazing hubby and spend my days doing what I love! In October 2018 I became very ill! It was the day before my husbands Birthday and I spent almost a month in hospital
Over the following days weeks and months I have learned to walk again, talk again and get back to crafting all while being left blind in my left eye. I still struggle to walk somedays, word full sentences and use my left side but I do try and that's what matters

While I was recuperating those first few weeks I tried to crochet as I knew anything that kept my hands moving would help. I created a crochet blanket using whatever wool was in my basket and learned a new stitch for each row along the way

It might not look pretty, the colours may clash but that there was something my body produced after all the drama!! Plus its sooooo heavy, the weight would kill me to move! It is 2x2 metres

It was sad every morning walking by my craft room so I closed the door but could always feel the need to go in! Things slowly got better for me and I stepped back in and got back into my magazine work, taking on one or two allocations at a time. It was just what I needed to get me back into work and the enjoyment of being in my craft room again.

We had many days out away from public and crowds and I slowly started to try hill walking again. It would exhaust me so easily and would spend days after just trying to get my body to want to move. But I did it and by October and the anniversary of the of becoming ill I was standing slightly lopsided and talking better! We even had a charity bake day in the house while hubby abseiled of the Forth Rail Bridge. Between us we made over £1300 for charity!!

Sadly in November we lost our fur baby Tillie. The arthritis was taking over her poor baby and she began to struggle. We had one last adventure with her up to Glencoe and made some memories before we took away her pain.

Although it was so hard to do it was the best thing for our girl and when I look back I know she hung on longer for us! I miss seeing her lying at the bottom of our bed while the sun shines in, snoring away and having puppy dreams!

We started 2020 up in Glencoe with fireworks and beautiful scenery, walking some more and building up my mobility. Planning and trying to be positive

The year started amazingly up until all this craziness began, a trip to the Isle of Skye for my Birthday,  trips to our favourite place working on more fun pieces and trying more walking! Making plans to go here and there and looking forward to my brothers Wedding. Now bam!! I'm stuck at home but it just means that all the adventures and plans will just have to wait! We WILL get there, see places and do all the things! Plus find a way for my brother and his partner to have an amazing day, whenever it happens!!

After all that, are you still there??
Want to see some craftiness now?? I think it's time ........

My lovely friend Angela has started an fab little Facebook Challenge Use Your Craft Stash!. And exactly like the name, that's what we want you to do! Dig out all those crafty bits you've been hoarding and try using them.
And with Angela, Carole, Karen and myself we want to get you all crafting again

This weeks theme is Things with Wings

I used a SVG file I have had for years and wanted to try Boho Butterflies, some very very very old Core'dinations core 12x12 cardstock, vellum coloured with my trusty Spectrum Noir pens and used Gilding wax that must be at least 5 years old to add bronze details

I feed some lights up in inside the stem of the body and bunched them in the lampshade and its all set to go. The lights are some fab wee ones I got from Amazon meant for wine bottles and just perfect for this

Hope you will join in the challenge and dig into your own stash of goodies to create something!

Thanks again for staying and reading this HUGE "first" post and I do hope to see you again soon!

huggles Mel xx
